Alabama USA Gymnastics Minutes-December 2, 2005

The meeting was called to order at 9:23 pm.

 

All State Committee Members were present.  Luann Nix was appointed as secretary for the meeting. This was an open board meeting and Deb Walls welcomed several Alabama USAG members to the meeting.

 

Deb thanked all board members for their help with the state meet.  She mentioned that the agenda had been sent to all members.  The first order of business was the calendar for 2006-07.  The calendar was passed out for the following season.  The calendar will be posted in the next newsletter and on the web site.

 

Mary Ann Wallace, State Judging Director mentioned that they were in negotiations with Champions Gymnastics for Compulsory Judges Cup August 225-27, 2006.

 

The next agenda item was finding a date for the Level 2 and 3 Spring State meet.  The committee also asked that judges assigned to judge 2 and 3 and prep opt state meets should have actively judged those level in the same season.

Tom made a motion to set the date for April 20-22, 2007.

The motion was seconded by James.

Approved Unanimously

 

The next agenda item was to discuss the possibility of using two judge panels at optional state meet.  This would possibly encourage gyms in the state of Alabama to bid on that particular meet because the cost would be reduced greatly.  The possibility of doing in-gym experience for those judges who wanted to qualify to judge state meet was mentioned.  Discussion continued and it the following was proposed:

 

Proposal:  There will be 2 judge panels for the level 7 portion of the 2007 State meet, and four judge panels for the 8-10 competition.

Passed Unanimously

 

 

The next proposal was to set the date for the fall 2 and 3 state championship.  After reviewing the calendar for the 2006 season and realizing there were no dates left, the following was proposed:

 

The Level 2 and 3 State Championship will be an addition to the Huntsville Gymnastics Invitational on the weekend of November 18, 2006.

Passed Unanimously

 

The next agenda item was awarding of bids for the 2006 State Compulsory Meet, 2007 Optional Meet, and the 2007 Prep Optional Meet and 2 and 3 State Meet.

 

Bids were reviewed and the following bids were awarded:

 

Compulsory State Meet 2-6 Mountain Brook Gymnastics to be hosted at Jeff State Jr. College

 

Optional State Meet:  JGJ Elite to be hosted at a Hoover Facility

 

2/3 State and Prep Optional Spring State Meet Champions Gymnastics.

 

Deb Kornegay spoke about  our volunteer board meeting four times per year.  She advised at large members to go to board with questions or problems concerning our state.  If someone is not comfortable talking to the state committee, they should go through the chain of command and speak with the regional officers.

 

Deb Walls thanked all those who came to the meeting.
